Kampala & Jinja
Once you land at Entebbe Airport, the next stopping point can be Entebbe town or Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. Kampala is about 45 kilometers from the Airport. The city is vibrant and has everything you may need for you stay including appealing accommodation facilities, banking services, a great transport system, pretty local markets, hang out spots like bars, cinemas, gardens, various hospitals for medication, well working internet connection, shopping malls, beaches and a lot more.
A day spent getting around Kampala will expose you to a plethora of thrilling tourist attractions such as art galleries, monuments, the Uganda museum, the cathedrals, Gadhafi mosque, the Bahai temple and the famous Uganda martyrs Namugongo shrines. The tour around this amazing city is really mind-blowing.
After Kampala, you can drive to Jinja another tourist city that invites travelers from different parts of the World. This place is located along the shores of Lake Victoria in the eastern part of Uganda. It is about 80 kilometers from the capital. A drive by car takes about 2-3 hours. Most foreigners know it because of the prominent River Nile.
Jinja has a lot to keep you busy for the days you will be here. Of all activities make sure not to miss the boat cruise to the source of the Nile River, bungee jumping, the white water rafting adventure, tubing, water sliding at the Nile River explorers’ camp and the mighty zip lining in Mabira forest. On a tour in the town you see the local market, car parking areas and visit different shopping malls.
Western Uganda
Western Uganda is a virgin region to explore if you are in Uganda for a relaxing holiday. It has main cities and town centers like Mbarara, Fort portal, Kasese, Kisoro and Kabale. With over eight national parks in this region it is easy to understand most tourists prefer it. You see unique wildlife species like the Mountain Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Elephants, Buffaloes, Antelopes, birds, Giraffes to name but a few. Days spent in this region won’t leave you the same. You remain with unforgettable memories.
Northern Uganda
The attractions in Northern Uganda won’t fail to impress you. From Kampala, this is the furthest region. It is home to the worldly known Kidepo Valley National park. Major cities here include Gulu, Moroto, Arua and Kitgum. Other allures to see here are the cascading Aruu falls, culture in the Karamoja sub region, and game reserves.
Eastern Uganda
Eastern Uganda is another appealing area. It starts from Jinja to Mbale and the notable Sipi falls in the Kapchorwa district. There is also the Nyero rock paints. Be sure to spend more time in Jinja. There is a lot to delve into here. From the Eastern region you can connect to the northern region for further exploration.
Rwanda
After Uganda, you can cross to the nearby Rwanda to see what it has to offer. This nation impresses visitors with its pretty Kigali city, Gorillas and Golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park, Chimpanzees in Nyungwe and Wild animals in Akagera National Park.
To cross from Uganda to Rwanda, you must have a letter that issues you permission to do so. They will ask it at the border customs. If you don’t have these documents, they won’t allow you to cross with the car.
Make sure to notify us in advance if you want to cross to Rwanda such that we write a letter and also issue you other documents required. You have to buy the COMESA insurance at the border. This tax allows the car to legally be in Rwanda for a specific period of time. It can be a week, two weeks or a month.
You can choose to leave the car in Rwanda and our driver will pick it or you bring it yourself back to Kampala. For drop off in Rwanda, you meet all the costs incurred to deliver this car back to Kampala or Entebbe. Then if you drive it yourself back, be sure to exit the car from Rwanda’s system.
This process is done at the border and it confirms with Rwanda’s security that the vehicle has legally returned to Uganda. Be sure to come with all the documents that show the car exit approval. We will ask for it just to be sure that you exited the vehicle. When you don’t exit, expect to pay a penalty fee that is used to drive this car back to Cyanika or Katuna border for the exiting process.
